Hi Girls,
So I thought I’d do a post about my favourite makeup products. Firstly, I’d like to point out that I am not a make-artist and I am purely going off my own experience of the makeup that I’ve tried and tested over the years. I’m basically going to show you exactly whats in my makeup bag, what I wear every day, and what I do for a more glamorous look which I keep for special occasions as all us ladies do.
There are so many makeup artists and bloggers out there who will give their professional advice, but I decided to do this post from an average girls point of view. I have got various tips and watched bloggers do their thing, but I just keep going back to the same products that work for me. I will say that I do have expensive taste in makeup and I don’t always go for the cheaper option. It’s not because of their price, but because of the quality. I do have cheaper brands which I just prefer and some more expensive options. I believe that you don’t need to refill on makeup too often, so you might as well make the sacrifice, spend a bit more, and go for what works well for you.
I usually start off with the MAC strobe cream, I find this a great undercoat as it is light and also has a nice pink shimmer to it. It just takes away any dullness to my skin and works well under my foundation.
Once I have this applied, it’s on to my foundation. Now, this is where it took me ages to find the right one. There are so many different foundations on the market and I love so many, but for every day, I wanted a foundation that gave good coverage and is also light. I think the True Match by L’Oreal (Golden Beige) to be one of the best on the market at the minute. It’s very affordable which helps a lot when it’s your everyday makeup as you need to refill a bit more often than any other product. For the night or special occasions, I usually mix the true match with Stila (Buff) as I find it has a little more coverage for a more “made up” look. Sometimes, I will try out some contouring with So Sue Me’s Contour Kit but I don’t really know what I’m doing here so it can go wrong!Using a highlighter and bronzer works better for me and gives me more control to the overall look.
I am totally in love with Victoria Beckham’s makeup collection by Estee Lauder, her bronzer and shimmer palette are just amazing. I use both these palettes at the moment, its quality is exceptional and I find they last for so long.
Once my foundation, bronzer and shimmer are applied I then make a start to my eye makeup. I know a lot of professional makeup artist start with the eye makeup first but this just doesn’t work for me. I find it easier to have my base layer of foundation/bronzers etc… applied first then I work on the details. If I need to fix anything after my eyes are done then I can easily do this, but this way just works better for me. For every day, I usually stick to brown colours for my eye makeup and at night, change it up a bit and go with a more smokey eye. I just live for eyeliner and wear it every day, more dramatic for the night of course! My favourite eyeliner at the moment has to be Shocking by Yves Saint Laurent. The felt pen is just so easy to use, especially if you want to create that flick on the corners that is very difficult to do with a normal liquid eyeliner.
I’ve tried so many mascaras but I just love the Baby Doll by Yves Saint Laurent. This mascara gives so much volume and length, I don’t think you even need fake eyelashes after applying this. For me, this is the best mascara right now.
For a more glamorous look for your eyes, I love the Huda beauty range. I recently got an eyeshadow palette from Huda as a gift, the obsessions palette Mauve . These colours work really well for me as I have blue eyes. I also love the smokey palette which is on the list to purchase in the near future.
For the brows, I try to keep them quite natural and use a brow pencil, currently, I am using the brow beater in the Urban Decay range in light brown or I like the lingering MAC brow pencil. Also, I sometimes use the Benefit brow shaping kit in Medium and the gimme brow also in Medium.
Finally, for my lips, I’m not all that fussy but I do love the MAC lipstick ranges and stick to a more of a nude colour, my favourite colours in MAC is Hug me, Honeylove, Whirl or Shy Girl but it all depends on the look you are going for. I also like the YSL range, I currently have the Tatquage couture matte satin, number 16 which I found quite good.
So that’s it, ladies, these are my favourite products right now. I hope you enjoyed the read and can get some tips from this.
You will notice that I have added links to all the product mentioned in this post so feel free to shop anything that you might like.
