My winter wonderland begins. I’m so excited for Christmas this year!! Totally obsessed with decorating and creating a cosy magical home. As much as I love the reds and greens that Christmas usually represents, I just adore everything white with a touch of sparkle.
This year I decided to purchase an artificial tree to create my winter wonderland style, I usually get two real trees, one for the “good sitting room” and one for the living room. It’s so funny how we call it the “good sitting room”, I’m sure most of us had a forbidden room which was the no-go zone for kids.
In our home, the “good sitting room” was only used at Christmas time and it was where all the breakables and encyclopaedias were kept.
Anyway, I purchased an artificial tree online for the white room. The White room is the least used room in our home, mainly because I won’t let anyone in there. Eh, Hello… a cream couch does not last long with sticky little hands. That reminds me, my three-year-old niece christened it one day, I won’t tell you how but you can probably guess! I was horrified, its now the forbidden room and no one only my husband and I are allowed in there. Even at that, I don’t trust his presence if he comes in dangling a glass of red wine.
So the artificial tree arrived. It was called an Alaskan snow tree, looked amazing online…eh I was very much mistaken. To my horror it was terrible, the skinniest thing I’d ever seen, you wouldn’t even notice it in the white room, total disaster! It was expensive and non-refundable so I had to do something with it!
As it turned out, it fits perfectly under my stairs! I then went up to the attic and pulled out all the white decorations which I had collected over the years, beautiful glass balls, pure white and silver sparkle. Voilà… Just like that, A magical winter wonderland was created, under my very own stairs!
I Took my mini modern rocking chair (another online purchase with its own story) and white fur rug from the white room to complete the winter wonderland look. I Was so thrilled with the result that it’s now the backdrop for every Christmas 2017 photo.
Can you believe it snowed the very next day? I just love Christmas time.
